Three-Way Race for Mayor

Toms River's mayoral race has a Democrat former mayor, Republican incumbent and independent candidate

It's a three-way race for mayor in Toms River.

Filing as an independent is Donald R. Flett, of Silver Bay Road. Flett filed a petition with the Ocean County Clerk to run for mayor against Republican incumbent Thomas Kelaher and former Democratic Mayor Paul Brush. It is Flett’s first run for public office in Toms River.

Kelaher announced early this year he will seek re-election along with Republican council members Councilwoman Melanie Donohue-Appleby, Councilman John Sevastakis, and Councilman George Wittman.
