The public has been invited to tour the Toms River Fire Academy at an Open House event slated for August, officials said.
As part of the event, parents can take pictures with their children on the fire trucks, and attendees can view photos of the proposed training and burn building and see the types of training that firefighters endure as they go into the academy.
There will also be free refreshments served, at which point those who attend can speak with local first responders.Additionally, there will be simulated demonstrations of rescues and propane fires, and those who attend can receive fire extinguisher training.
The event will be held Aug. 16 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the academy, which is located at 1780 Church Road, Toms River.
