You've taken off the year balls and untangled yourself from tinsel. But if you're thinking of tossing your Christmas tree curbside this week, you're a little early for the special trash pickup.
In Toms River, public works begins trash pickup of Christmas trees from Jan. 15 through 31. Place the trees at the curb for collection.
However, if you want to give your tree a new life as wood chips, Toms River also runs a recycling program in January.
Toms River Parks and Recreation Department conducts a Christmas tree recycling program each January, where dropped off trees are mulched into wood chips.
Residents can take their tree to any one of the following locations through January:
After Jan. 31, all trees must be dropped off at our Recycling Convenience Center on Church Road.
