We’re midway through “Patriotism Week,” as declared by the Toms River Elks. It’s a full week from Sept. 5 to 11 to mark the 10 year anniversary of Sept. 11 and to also spread patriotism and unity during the observation.

“The members of the Elks Lodge recognized that this anniversary should not go unnoticed and that the sight of 820 children proudly carrying American flags home for display would be a fitting and moving tribute to the bravery and horror of that day, ten years ago,” said Geoge Coyne, of the Elks.
