Film/Discussion: Plague of Haiti's Orphans at OCC

The Ocean County College Global Education Committee will present The Plague of HIV in Haiti’s Forgotten Orphans on Thursday, April 26 at 12:30 p.m. in the Solar Lounge, College Center (Building #15), on the OCC Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River.  This event is free and open to the public.

Presenter Marc Landas, author / documentary filmmaker, will share his recent travels to Haiti to witness to the world the struggles of orphans with HIV through his documentary Conversations with The Living: The Haitian AIDS Crisis.

As a historian, filmmaker, and author (The Fallen, Wiley and Sons, 2006) whose work has appeared in national and international publications, Landas will offer his insights into the health epidemic and the unique challenges that face Haiti in finding solutions.  As a filmmaker, Landas will discuss the process of translating the astounding hopelessness into a documentary and the hopes that Conversations with The Living may provoke to the global community in creating a response to a region and people that have been historically overlooked.
