Nominate for Toms River Athletic Hall of Fame Through Jan. 31

Toms River Regional School's continues to solicit nominations for its Athletic Hall of Fall. The deadline closes Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The Toms River Athletic Hall of Fame honorees will be inducted on May 4, 2012 at the Pine Belt Arena. The nomination period was extended from Dec. 31 to Jan. 31.

What do you need to know before you nominate? Toms River Regional Schools has prepared the following Frequently Asked Questions:

• What does one need to qualify?
  He/she must have been a student athlete at one of the three Toms River High Schools and demonstrated individual or team sports ability which brings recognition, acclaim, and civic pride to Toms River.
• What specific qualifications are required?
  Olympian, All-American, National Champion, Professional Athlete, All-State, All-County, Multi-Sport Champion, Winning Record, Long Service Record, "Best Team".
• How many years before he/she is able to qualify?
  Ten years elapsed time since high school participation.
• Are nominations limited to student athletes only?
  While members will normally be a Toms River High School graduate, Toms River residents who have contributed to the athletic success of Toms River through their volunteer efforts may also be nominated.
• Who can submit nominations?
  Candidates will be solicited from coaches, fans, family, and community members.
• May I nominate myself?
  Absolutely. Any and all nominations will be considered.
