OCC Commencement Moved to Pine Belt Arena

Ceremony moved indoors, weather concerns cited as reason

Ocean County College will hold its commencement ceremony indoors at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River on Thursday, college officials said in an e-mail.

The college made the call due to the potential for inclement weather.

Graduates should report with their caps and gowns to Toms River High School North Gym, Door 18 in the back of the school at 5 p.m., said Roseann D'Urso, Manager of Promotional Programming at the college. Faculty and staff should report there as well.

Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. as well, at Ggtes “A” and “B.”  Seating is first-come, first-served, D'Urso said, and is bleacher-style.

All backpacks and large bags are prohibited from the arena during the ceremony due to security procedures at the arena, D'Urso said.

The ceremony will still be televised on Ocean TV 20 on Comcast of Toms River and Long Beach Island, and on Verizon FiOS of Ocean County, channel 24. It will also be broadcast online at http://new.livestream.com/oceancountycollege/.

The Pine Belt Arena is located at 1245 Old Freehold Road, Toms River.
