Onofrietti: I'll Fight for Our Kids on BOE

The following has been submitted as a Letter to the Editor by Toms River Regional BOE candidate Robert Onofrietti

~

A letter to the Editor of the Toms River Patch,

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Toms River Patch and its loyal readers.  My name is Robert Onofrietti Jr, and I am running for a seat on the Toms River Board of Education this November 5th.  I feel it is important for the voters to get a sense of what I am about as they make their choice before heading to the polls.  By way of introduction, I hold a MBA from Monmouth University, and own a new mortgage company in Toms River, Shore Home Loans.  I have 4 young daughters, all in the Toms River School system.  They reside in grades, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

I felt the need to run as a sense of duty not only to my own children, but also to the other parents in the school district, the teachers, and the taxpayers.  Every decision that the board of education makes will directly affect my children, and I feel strongly that a board member must be actively involved within the school system as I am. The motto for my campaign is “Honesty and Transparency for all”.  These words could not have been spoken at a better time.  As we all know, the Toms River School district is still trying to dig out from a rather large hole that we were put in due to a previous administration’s lack of ethical values, honesty and transparency.  I can assure everyone reading this letter that everything that I do, will be transparent to all.  You may not like the decisions that are being made, but I can promise you that everyone will know why they are made, and the reasons behind them.  I will work tirelessly to instill these same values on the board, and in our schools.  We live in an every changing world and it is incumbent upon us to make sure that our children attend a school that is not only meeting their educational needs, but is enriching their lives.  If elected, I promise to fight for our kids, as well as our teachers so that they have the tools needed to carry out their mission, while not putting an extra burden on our taxpayers.

In closing, I want to thank the editors of the Toms River Patch for allowing me to write this letter, and I want to thank the readers for giving me a few minutes of your day to describe what drives me to seek election to such a prestigious educational institution.   My children mean the world to me and I want to see them grow up in an environment that shares the same values as I do.  I will not only fight hard for them, but for all the children of this great city.  Toms River once set an example for all others to follow; I intend to restore its great name and reputation, one that we all can be proud of, and proud to call home.  Please vote for Robert Onofrietti Jr for a seat on the Toms River Board of Education.

Sincerely,
