Roselli named Toms River Regional Super

Asst. Superintendent Roselli served as interim superintendent after Ritacco resigned amid scandal.

The Toms River Board of Education has appointed Frank Roselli as its new superintendent.

Roselli has been serving as interim superintendent since October, when former superintendent Michael Ritacco resigned, the same day Ritacco was indicted on multiple counts of fraud and tax evasion in a now 27-count indictment.

For the past 8 1/2 years, Roselli served as assistant superintendent for the Toms River Regional School District.

Board member Edward Gearity, the chairman of the search committee for a new superintendent, said 14 candidates were narrowed down from a national search. From there, three were interviewed by the search committee.

"Each of them, we felt were highly qualified, very interesting, very capable individuals," Gearity said. "We've made a decision. We'd like to have Frank Roselli, interim superintendent, as our permanent superintendent."

The motion received strong applause and a standing ovation from the board and the audience at Toms River Intermediate South at 7:40 p.m. tonight.

The board voted unanimously to make Roselli superintendent.

Board President Linda Garvey then turned to Roselli and said, "Congratulations, Mr. Roselli, we’re all very happy to continue to be working with you as superintendent."

Roselli offered his thanks.

"I thank each and every one of them for their vote of confidence," Roselli said. "It is a great honor."
