The $0.7389 tax rate would be for Toms River residents, as separate tax rates are paid by the other towns that make up the Toms River regional district: South Toms River, Pine Beach and Beachwood.

The total anticipated tax levy revenue for Toms River Regional Schools would be $131.104 million, up from $126.21 million last year.

The anticipated total operating budget is up $4.872 million over 2010-2011, climbing to $200.5 million.

Funding the growing budget is a higher tax rate, more tuition dollars, and higher state aid over 2010-2011.

The tax rate could grow to $0.7389 per $100 for Toms River, from $0.706 per $100.

The district also expects $670,000 more tuition dollars from its sending-receiving agreements, for a total $973,000 anticipated.

The school district has posted its “user-friendly budget” document online, but Business Administrator William Doering said the district is still busy preparing for a school budget presentation tomorrow, at 7:30 p.m. in Intermediate North.

Although the operating budget is growing, the capital budget is shrinking, with an anticipated $635,196 budgeted, down from $705,705. In 2009-2010, the capital budget was $419,349.

The district expects to educate an estimated 17,235 pupils next school year.

The budget, along with three board member spots, will be on an April 27 ballot for voters to decide on.
