It was "Peace Out to Bullies" at East Dover Elementary, where staff and students donned their best 1970s hippie gear to promote peace and anti-bullying.

Principal Downing was among those decked out in tie-dye to bring awareness. In addition, students recited a Anti-Bullying Pledge each morning after the pledge of allegiance.

The Pledge:

"Week of Respect"

Watch your thoughts, they become words.

Your character is defined by what you do, not by what you say or believe.

Watch your words, they become actions.

Every choice you make helps define the kind of person you are choosing to be.

Watch your actions, they become habits.

Good character requires doing the right thing, even when it is costly or risky.

Watch your actions, they become character.

What you do matters, and one person can make a big difference.

Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

It was just one of several events; for a look at the other activities, check out the district website.

There, parents, students and staff can also find the district's Anti-bullying resource page, which outlines the contact information for each school. Every school district must have an Anti-Bullying Coordinator and every school must have an Anti-Bullying Specialist and School Safety Team. Each schools' coordinator contact info is on the page.
