Take A Tour of OCC's New 'Gateway' Building

74,000 square foot building dedicated Wednesday night

Ocean County College officials joined with community members to dedicate the Gateway building at the Toms River campus on Wednesday night.

The building – the tallest in Ocean County – is a joint venture between Ocean County College and Kean University.

The 74,000-square foot, five-story building sits on OCC’s upper campus. The state-of-the-art facility features a 210 seat lecture hall, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, seminar rooms, student lounge, snack kiosk and office space for faculty and staff, college officials said.

The Gateway building will be utilized as part of the ever-expanding partnership between and Kean University. Between Gateway and other facilities, officials will be able to offer both undergraduate and even masters degrees to students within Ocean County.

The program has proved extremely successful, college officials have said in recent years, with most students retaining OCC course rates even after they transition to Kean University courses.

The partnership has been called "unique" by OCC officials.
