The Toms River Regional Board of Education will appoint the school district's new superintendent at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night.

The successful candidate's name was not revealed publicly, as a closed executive session dealing with the new schools chief's contract will take place before a vote is taken in public.

The district has been searching for a new superintendent since former superintendent Frank Roselli announced his retirement last March, weeks after suffering a heart attack.

Roselli served as assistant superintendent for over eight years before being appointed to lead the district in 2011 following the resignation of disgraced superintendent Michael Ritacco.

After he retired, the board appointed former Jackson superintendent Tom Gialanella to lead the district on an interim basis.

The approval of the superintendent's contract is the only item listed on an agenda for Tuesday night's meeting, which will begin with a 15 minute-long executive session at 8 p.m.

The meeting will be held at High School North, 1245 Old Freehold Road, Toms River.

Ask Mr. Torrone why he hired Dr. Gaffney to the position of Assistant Superintendent ... because I'm sure it has NOTHING to do with the affair he has been having with her behind his wife's back. Nothing has changed in these schools, and until people with REAL educational backgrounds are hired, nothing ever will. I am still confused as to how a husband and wife and occupy two seats on a BOE ... I understand it isn't illegal, but in Toms River's already dirty waters, do you think it was a wise decision? People were deadest on removing all the "Ritacco Capos" that we failed to make sure who we voted in weren't wolves in sheep clothing. FYI, Gaffney was terminated from her previous 2 positions in 2 separate districts ....

I don't think Gaffney has made any fans in the district. I hope our tens of thousands of dollars used in the search for a new super were worth it.

Gaffney is making the teachers, supervisors, and principals in the elementary schools finally work. The TRRS elem schools are far behind state standards because Cardone and Pizzaboy didn't do a damn thing the last 5-10 yrs. Not to mention all the unqualified, alternate route "teachers" in TRRS elementary schools.

The bottom line is - how much is Mr. Healy going to cost us?

Issue: very few want to be Superintendent. Since tenure was dissolved and short term contracts were established the financial future of the individual and his family were left to the whims of crackpots that populate most school boards. Add to that the restrictions on salary that our governor established because he couldn't tolerate the idea that others made more than he does. who needs that?
