Toms River BOE to Appoint New Superintendent Tuesday

TR district has been looking for new super for a year

The Toms River Regional Board of Education will appoint the school district's new superintendent at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night.

The successful candidate's name was not revealed publicly, as a closed executive session dealing with the new schools chief's contract will take place before a vote is taken in public.

The district has been searching for a new superintendent since former superintendent Frank Roselli announced his retirement last March, weeks after suffering a heart attack.

Roselli served as assistant superintendent for over eight years before being appointed to lead the district in 2011 following the resignation of disgraced superintendent Michael Ritacco.

After he retired, the board appointed former Jackson superintendent Tom Gialanella to lead the district on an interim basis.

The approval of the superintendent's contract is the only item listed on an agenda for Tuesday night's meeting, which will begin with a 15 minute-long executive session at 8 p.m.

The meeting will be held at High School North, 1245 Old Freehold Road, Toms River.
