Toms River High School East Shutting Down Evacuation Center, Residents Heading Home

Toms River High School North and Intermediate still open with room available

Township officials are shutting down the shelter evacuation center due to the fact that residents are heading home, according to organizer Tammi Millar, communications director.

“We don’t expect any new check-ins,” she said.

In the meantime, anyone who does require evacuation services may go to T or , both of which remain open.

, a Red Cross shelter, currently is housing approximately 300 people. Some of the people staying there are from out of the area, she said.

Toms River High School East put up approximately 30 people last night, who were mostly from a group home that has since reopened.

Supplies are sufficient at both locations, according to Millar.
