Toms River Regional Superintendent Recovering from Heart Attack

Superintendent Frank Roselli is said to be recovering at home after weekend incident

Toms River Regional Superintendent of Schools Frank Roselli is recovering at home following a weekend heart attack, officials said Tuesday.

Roselli suffered the heart attack on Saturday. He was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River after experiencing shortness of breath, Board of Education President Ben Giovine announced before a Tuesday night budget presentation.

"He's now currently resting at home," Giovine said. "On behalf of the entire board, I wish Mr. Roselli a speedy recovery and look forward to his return."

Giovine said he spoke with Roselli by phone on Tuesday. Assistant superintendents and Business Administrator William Doering are handling the district's business while Roselli recovers, Giovine said.

Roselli served as assistant superintendent for over eight years before being appointed to lead the district in 2011 following the resignation of disgraced superintendent Michael Ritacco.

There is no anticipated timeframe yet for Roselli's return, but district spokesperson Tammi Millar said that his assistants will be able to pick up the slack in his absence.
