i don't get it?? December 10, 2013 at 10:36 AM
@ joey joe...seriously dude...you chose your job. Stop being angry at the others who obviously you are envious of...you could always look into a career change.
Spooner December 10, 2013 at 10:49 AM
...a "career change". . .now that's funny!
proud December 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM
Mr Lackey, @Joey Joe has mentioned this retirement fact many times on these boards and blogs that he has posted. I thought that inasmuch as the good Captain is stalking him, he would know that. Speaking of retirement, YOU did claim that after losing the election for the (D's). --that's three benders ago for those counting-- you would retire from these the Patch until next election season, much to the chagrin of those you support. Yet, like a recurring ulcer, you're still here.

Amazing.....keep schools open...accident kids get hurt Parents will scream bloody murder! Close schools Parents scream because their babysitters (schools) are closed. Go to school and let the kids out early! Parents scream that they then have to take off from work! Its Comical....How about at least someone is using common sense err on the side of caution. LOL.....I have to go to work today and I am not blaming anyone and honestly who cares....so the kids get a day off things could be worse folks. just sayin....

letsgetreal is the voice of reason, the rest of you need to go outside and build a snowman.
Joey Joe December 10, 2013 at 12:19 PM
@I don't get it - change my career? not on your life... retirement is the BEST job I've ever had. Now you and Captain can go back to sleep and dream about only having 121 work days till you're off for the summer.
Joey Joe December 10, 2013 at 12:38 PM
@Mr Happy - yes, @Proud is correct...I am retired...(and loving it I may add). I pulled the plug last April after almost 45 years of working a real job in the "PRIVATE SECTOR" (Sorry Captain - I just had to - LOL) I figured after working almost 45 years, and raising 5 kids, it was time to relax with my Wife, and enjoy our grandkids, my hobbies (and my Wife's) and enjoy the struggle to get my golf score into the low 80's.

So Toms River Schools...aren't you glad you closed schools today for this HORRIBLE storm we had??? THanks so much for adding a day at the end of the year...WOW what's going to happen when we really have a storm???
bob December 10, 2013 at 01:40 PM
All the people complaining about school's being closed, would be the first ones looking for a lawyer if there kids bus got into an accident.
Deep Throat December 10, 2013 at 02:58 PM
Can someone come over my house and help me shovel my sidewalks so the kids can make it to school tomorrow? The other day I commented about weathermen and had my head ripped off. I stand by my statement that with all this technology they still are clueless. My favorite is the mobile weather lab. I want that job.
justamom December 10, 2013 at 03:10 PM
It's all fun and games until one of you has to drive the bus. Letsgetreal has it right. If schools were open, and Heaven forbid there was an accident, people would be screaming about that. You can't please everyone, but you can keep people safe. Err on the side of caution is wise when talking about children. So we didn't get blasted by tons of snow. the roads are probably still slick. Make cookies with your kids and enjoy the unexpected day off. I understand that with the price of daycare today, many have to use the schools as daycares/babysitters, along with hoping they learn. But, they are in fact schools. Also, TR has a district of over 18000 students. There aren't enough buses to release them all at once. Closing schools can't be an easy decision, but it was a good call. btw, they DID close schools the day of Sandy.
Mr. Happy December 10, 2013 at 03:23 PM
@proud - I decided to keep Patching for two reasons. The first is the need for an educated informed commentary (from me) to balance out and counter the ill/mis informed (folks like you). Second, and more important, is the fun I am having with my favorite patch punching bag!!
proud December 10, 2013 at 05:22 PM
Try not to hurt yourself.
proud December 10, 2013 at 05:24 PM
@justamom has it right: " I understand that with the price of daycare today, many have to use the schools as daycares/babysitters, along with hoping they learn. But, they are in fact schools."
letsgetreal December 10, 2013 at 06:08 PM
Oh...my god....if this school closing creates such outrage in the community...where the hell is all this energy when there is real community issue? Today was a day to say "hey lets take a break"...and yes...an unexpected break for that matter. With that being said...it was also a great time to slow down and spend some time with your kids and enjoy unexpected quality time. Wow...what a horrible horrible thing ..... of course in gest! just saying
letsgetreal December 10, 2013 at 06:15 PM
Yes yes yes...I realize some of you had to re-arrange your schedules and get sitters and yes...even take the DAY OFF....but if some of you calm down for a moment...maybe you will realize that the reality is thank GOD your NOT the parent who suffered the loss of a child due to an needless accident, one that could have been completely avoided if just a shred of common sense was used. Then again..some of you have no patience for common sense since its very clear some of you do not use it on here...so I will end my rant (not really cause I am actually smiling) with trying to make some of you realize how foolish your complaint about "the HORRIBLE School Closing" is but then again....amazingly its apparent it may all just be a big waste of time..SMILE PEOPLE life is SHORT!
proud December 10, 2013 at 06:20 PM
I never heard of anyone getting killed because the clasp on their golashes got iced up.
Linda Maloney December 10, 2013 at 06:38 PM
I agree with @letsgetreal Smile! Do a good deed! As a matter of fact I'm getting ready to help @Deep Throat shovel, as long as he/she has a couple shots of tequila for me!
letsgetreal December 10, 2013 at 08:22 PM
@Linda Maloney! Cheers! You get it :)
proud December 10, 2013 at 08:53 PM
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt (Salt! Salt! Salt!) Some people claim that there's a woman to blame (I agree with that) And I know, it's all you women's fault
Mr. Happy December 10, 2013 at 09:40 PM
Right on schedule the pot express rolls in: "it's all you women's fault" - anyone have a clue as to what @proud is talking about??
Linda Maloney December 10, 2013 at 09:42 PM
@proud Jimmy Buffet fan or a fan of margaritas or just looking for your lost shaker of salt? LOL
Joey Joe December 11, 2013 at 06:01 AM
@Linda - we'll have to wait and see... we'll know for sure if he breaks out with a chorus regarding his carnivorous habits in some place called "paradise."
proud December 11, 2013 at 06:17 AM

Joey Joe December 11, 2013 at 06:32 AM
hehehehehe.. yup... but there are so many others down in the Fla. Keys much better than Jimmy... I often wonder if his saloon is still open on Duval St. Sloppy Joes and Tony's were packed the last time I was there a couple years ago but the bartenders at "Margaritaville" were all standing around doin nuttin.
