T.R. Super: Kindergarten Programs Will Stay

Some may be 'realigned,' however, super says

Responding to rumors circling in town that the Toms River Regional school district will step down the number of special classes and programs it offers to its kindergarten students, acting Superintendent Thomas Gialanella said the programs may be "realigned," but not cut.

A parent of an incoming kindergarten student asked board members at a meeting this week whether the rumors were true for the upcoming 2014-15 school year.

"The specials are not going to be eliminated," said Gialanella.

Special classes include those such as art and music.

"We might be realigning some things, but we’re not going to be eliminating any of them," Gialanella said.

The realignment, he said, might include things such as changing schedules.
