Habitat for Humanity's Bike To Build

Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity will be hosting
its 4th annual Bike to Build event at Beachwood Bicycles located at 101 Highway 166 Beachwood. Riders of any skill level are invited to participate in one out of the three scenic routes chosen to highlight the Jersey Shore.

The first route is known as the Riverside Cruise which is ideal for novice skilled riders. The ten mile ride
allows riders to ride alongside the beautiful Toms River. The second route, Bike by the Bay, is geared
more towards riders with an intermediate skill level. This route encompasses a twenty-three mile ride
along the scenic Barnegat Bay. The third route, Pines to the Bay, is highly suggested for riders who are
highly experienced as beach cruisers are not permitted. The thirty-two mile ride offers a scenic tour through the famous Pine Barrens. Helmets are mandatory for all riders. Mechanical support will be available to all riders as well as rest stops throughout the three routes.

Registration forms are available on our website at www.northernoceanhabitat.com and at Beachwood
Bicycles. Forms are to be returned to NOHFH by September 21st for preregistration. Every rider is also
expected to sign a consent form located on the website or on the day of the event. All pre-registrants
will receive a Bike to Build t-shirt. Participants may also register on the day of the event starting at 8 a.m.
with the bike ride commencing at 9 a.m. Before the ride, participants will be able to treat themselves to a
light breakfast.

Registration fees are: ten mile event is $15, the twenty-three mile event is $25, and the thirty-two mile event is $35. For the first time, students will be able to engage in competitions. The school that has the most riders wins a Habitat plaque to display at their school and receives recognition on our website. Riders can strive to raise more money by getting pledges in addition to their registration fee. The student who raises the most amount of money receives a prize. Northern Ocean Habitat for Habitat encourages riders to reach out and ask local businesses to
sponsor the Bike to Build and could be included on our long sleeve tee shirt.

Corporate sponsors who donate at least one hundred dollars will be featured on the back of our Bike to
Build tee shirts. Corporations who donate at least $100 will be deemed as bronze sponsors, at least $250 will be silver sponsors, and at least $500 will be gold sponsors.

“Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity is proud to partner with the staff of Beachwood Bicycles for the 4th year in the annual Bike to Build! Our mission is to build and rehab homes for our low income neighbors. Please join us as we bike along the Toms River and Barnegat bay and help us put FUN back in fundraising,” said Suzan Fichtner, Executive Director of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity.

All proceeds will help our affiliate fund the construction and rehabilitation of Habitat houses within our community. Currently, Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity is engaging in numerous projects throughout the community. Due to a house fire, NOHFH has been called to re-hab the home of a legally blind mother and her special needs son, Steven. NOHFH is also proud to be the only NJ affiliate to
receive a grant to repair low income veteran’s homes in Northern Ocean County.
