Toms River's Frazier Belts First Major League Home Run

Fourth-inning blast helps pad Reds' lead.

Toms River High School South graduate Todd Frazier hit his first major league home run, Sunday afternoon as the Cincinnati Reds routed the Giants, 9-0.

Frazier, playing third base and getting his first start since Thursday afternoon, took a 1-1 pitch from Giants' pitcher Barry Zito and lifted it into the third row of seats in left center-field at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati to give the Reds a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The blast came with one out and no one on base.

He batted eighth in the lineup.

Cincinnati jumped out to a lead early. Joey Votto drove in Drew Stubbs in the bottom of the first with an RBI single to right field. Edgar Renteria later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brandon Phillips and Votto scored on an RBI single to centerfield by Jay Bruce to give the Reds the 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Bruce drove in Renteria on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth, and two innings later, Votto drove in three more runs with a three-run home run to centerfield. Stubbs and Renteria scored on the shot.

Stubbs would score one more time -- in the bottom of the eighth -- on an RBI single from Yonder Alonso, who replaced Votto.

Johnny Cuteo pitched a complete game for Cincinatti, allowing just three hits and no runs over the nine innings.
