Frazier had a light week with the Reds, only appearing in three of their games. But his lone hit of Sunday’s performance couldn’t have come at a bigger time.
Leading off the top of the ninth inning in Pittsburgh with the Pirates ahead of the Reds 4-3, Frazier lined a single to center off of the Pirates’ All-Star closer, Joel Hanrahan. Two batters later Frazier would score on a Ramon Hernandez pinch hit single to tie the game.
The Reds would score once more in the frame to go on to a 5-4 win on Sunday afternoon. Prior to Sunday Pittsburgh had been 52-0 when leading after eight innings.
For the week Frazer batted .182 with one run scored and one strikeout.
