Car Shows

On my way to work at Storage Station 2354 Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne this morning I was thinking about the car show that I went to a couple of weeks ago.

A friend of mine told me about this car show which is in Greenwich Connecticut and stated it was one of the best shows he has ever been to. The show is every year on a Saturday and Sunday in June. I was looking forward to going after his rave reviews and could not wait to see the cars in the show.  We were schedule to go on Saturday but due to the weather we decided to go on Sunday which turned out to be a beautiful day. Thinking I was going to see American made cars when we got there I was surprised to see all foreign made vehicles at the show.

What we found out was the car show is divided into a day for American made cars and a day for the foreign made cars. As a result Saturday was for the American cars and Sunday was for the foreign cars. Here is a sampling of some of the older cars that were in the show.

A 1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost 5- Passenger Limousine, 1930  Aston Martin International Boattail Roadster, 1934 Duesenberg model J Phaeton, 1970 Lamborghini Miura S Coupe  There were also  many other cars there from 1921 through this year. I enjoyed seeing the older models but looking at the newer cars was really enjoyable. This year’s model s included the following Mercedes, Maserati’s, Bentely’s, Porsche’s, Ferrari’s, Jaguar’s, Bugatti’s and BMW’s. There was even a Toyota there that was very impressive. The model was an LF with 500 Horse power and cost a mere three hundred and forty five thousand dollars. My favorite was a Buggatti that was priced at up to one and a half million dollars. The sale representative that was there said they sold ten to fifteen cars a year.

Also included in the show were a group of motorcycles. There were Harley’s from 1927, 1936, 1942 and BSA’S from the 1960’S. As I said before this was an outstanding show and since I am not part of the one percent it was great seeing all these great cars in one place. The prices were anywhere from a hundred thousand to four hundred thousand dollars except for the Buggatti. I am sure the people who own these cars do not need a place like Storage Station to store their vehicles unless they are remodeling there garages. We do have tenants who store their cars and motorcycles at Storage Station during the winter months in order to protect them from the elements. My friend and I said we would definitely come back next year to see the American cars but would call first to see which day would be for the American cars.

Another interesting thing held at the car show was the auctioning of various cars from the show. Since neither my friend nor I had the money we passed on the auction. Though I thought it might have been interesting to see what some of these cars were being sold for. There was an admission fee for the auction.

There is also a good car show called Lead East which is held at the Hilton hotel in Parsippany New Jersey over Labor Day weekend. Again this is also a good show as they usually have American cars from the forty’s, fifties and sixties etc. in this show.

These are the cars that are usually stored at some place like Storage Station along with Motorcycles.
