Photos: Downtown Packed With Ice Cream, Boats

Photos from today's State Ice Cream Festival, and Huddy Park's wooden boat festival

Grandma's pumpkin pie, chocolate silk, red velvet and other unique flavors delighted thousands who packed Washington Street for a chance to sample the entrants for the state's ice cream festival in Toms River Saturday.

A crowded festival thanks to tasty flavors and sunny skies, there were also dozens of food and retail vendors as well as live music, balloonists and face painters.

A block away in Huddy Park, the Toms River kept wooden boats afloat as part of the annual Wooden Boat Festival.

Check out our gallery from both events.

I was here today and there were only 5 ice cream stands or so. This thing has turned into from an ice cream festival into a flea market. I don't get it. I would assume nobody went to the chicken bbq because there's no advertising dollars to pander there.

I agree..
Why is it called an Ice Cream Festival... Ridiculous... Call it something else.. just a bunch of vendors selling garbage... but the kids rides, slides, etc look like fun. Just call it a carnival and add more rides.

Great story! Glad to hear your on your way back. Also happy to see someone else noticing that inRead More some places it still looks like Sandy hit yesterday. Some mayors might consider that "complaining".
