It may mark the start of a tourist season, but Memorial Day is much more than a three-day weekend.

It is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to the nation.

Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is still commemorated with parades of veterans, and decoration with bunting around Toms River.
