Lavallette Beaches Welcome Bathers on June 22

Borough was not as badly damaged by Superstorm Sandy compared to some surrounding municipalities

While some neighboring barrier island communities were battered badly by Superstorm Sandy, Lavallette escaped relatively unscathed.

"Lavallette is one community that miraculously did not suffer the structural damage that occurred both to the north and to the south," Mayor Walter LaCicero said in a letter mailed to Gov. Chris Christie in November when he asked that residents be allowed back home.

Now, Lavallette is ready for the summer beach season, which kicks off there on June 22.
