Post-Sandy Tourism The Engine to Drive Economic Recovery

The Shore Is Open. This the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau's initiative to make the public aware that the Shore is open for business.

As we phase into the next stage of recovery here on the Jersey Shore, specifically Monmouth and Ocean Counties, we bring to you this unique opportunity to meet and talk with Jeff Anding. He is the Director of External Affairs with the New Orleans Convention and  Visitors Bureau. Why Jeff Anding?

It’s a great lesson I have heard time and time again and was reminded of in Canada with the Lieutenant Governor, DO NOT REINVENT THE WHEEL!

It is well documented that tourism played a major role in jump starting the economy in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Every business is Directly affected by tourism especially on the Jersey Shore as we know. The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau was the leading force behind many of the strategies to take advantage of tourism and the arts as an economic driver. Jeff Anding will be sharing the recovery plan that was implemented in New Orleans after Katrina, as well as offering first-hand insights into the magnitude of work that lies ahead here in New Jersey as we deal with rebuilding the coastal economy.

As we phase into the next stage of rebuilding and recovery here in New Jersey and on the Jersey Shore, specifically Monmouth and Ocean Counties, we have an opportunity to seek advice from an expert on what we can expect, was done in New Orleans and how the New Orleans team worked together with local and State officials to lessen the economic impact of the devastating storm.

Please take a minute and follow the MODC link and sign up for this event. www.modc.com/events.html. Pass it along to your town officials, invite your business associates and help MODC and The Convention and Visitors Bureau with our continued efforts to restore the shore, remind everyone we are Open for Business and to choose New Jersey as the ultimate place to visit, invest and live.
