Fundraiser to Benefit Kyleigh Sousa Foundation

Zumba class tomorrow at Fischer Boulevard business

Let’s Zumba for Kyleigh.

That’s the idea behind a fundraiser Wednesday hoping to raise money for a local charity in honor of the college student who died last year.

A local fitness club will host a fundraiser for the , named for the 21-year-old Point Pleasant resident killed in May 2010 in Arizona.

Mattia Fitness, 1182 Fischer Boulevard in Toms River, will host a Zumba fundraiser 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at Mattia.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, giving patrons a high-energy dance workout known as Zumba.

The Zumba class runs until 8:30 p.m.

The proceeds will benefit the Kyleigh Sousa Foundation, formed in 2010, focusing on funding local scholarship and support for families affected by traumatic brain injuries or random violence.

The foundation funds:

  • A scholarship to a graduate of Kyleigh’s alma mater, Point Pleasant Borough High School.
  • a scholarship to a student at Arizona State University.
  • Medical costs of families with loved ones who are suffering from traumatic brain
  • brain injury research.
  • financial support for families who have lost young adults or children to random acts of violence.
