Recognizing the Independence of India

Anniversary marked locally by Toms River resident, freeholders

Today is the anniversary of India's independence from British colonial rule, and locally the event was marked by a proclamation and flag raising in the county seat.

Freeholders met for a brief ceremony in the today with representatives from the Asian Indian Association of Central Jersey.

Toms River resident , coordinator of the Asian Indian Association of Central Jersey's in Ocean County, accepts a proclamation observing the 64th anniversary of the independence of India from Britain.
