The board's decision to hire this man is classic Toms River. Nothing has changed. You can't tell…Read More me there wasn't one other current administrator who could have done the job on an interim basis for far less money. Mr. Gialanella raised a child who grew up and made a conscious choice to molest children. What does this say about his character and the morals of his family? Robin was automatically handed a job in the TR school system BECAUSE of her father and their last name. You would think the entire family would have left the state after her conviction. Think about the students and families that were hurt. How could you possibly have any shred of confidence in her father to lead the district with professionalism and honesty? Go back and read archived articles on the Robin G. scandal. Mr. G publicly supported her 100% -- which means he condones her criminal behavior.

How about the people who lost their jobs because of the sequester? military cuts? Did everyone…Read More forget about them? Sandy created jobs....DUHHHHHHHHHH
charlotte June 12, 2013 at 11:37 pm
Can't believe I agree but from a different angle. This is purely administrative and most probably…Read More do little to help those that are unemployed due to Sandy. For Heaven Sake - it has been 8 months - some of us are finally getting back to work now. Ridiculous - just like a majority of the other millions of dollars spent.
Bottom Line June 11, 2013 at 04:16 pm
People will storm the gate if an internal person is made interim. That is not a rumor, but straight…Read More FACT!

EducatedCitizen June 7, 2013 at 11:31 pm
Yup, nobody wants to do anything about it. The laws are all in favor of the cops, and…Read More teachers..they don't limit search and seizure at all...its just soooo easy for cops to search anybody and everybody whenever they want. Liberals ruined this state.
the way it is June 8, 2013 at 11:43 am
Liberals made this country great. There is a place called Texas if you want to be stuck in the…Read More 1700's. I am not going to get in a discussion with a conservative for the mere fact they never listen to the real facts.

The war on drugs is wasting a lot of money and doesn't address the problem of young teenagers in…Read More school with recreational usage. We need someone to step up to the plate and tackle the situation on the High School level and someone just did.
Thank You Mr. Coronato.

To River City Rover; Thats the big problem, HE'S A COP that always is covering things up. He put his…Read More future on the line with the TRE cover-up and the line broke. He is done. You do not put children and staff at risk then leave the state when it's time to fess up!!!
charlotte May 25, 2013 at 05:13 am
Wow Jennifer. I am surprised that they didn't at least try to protect her and the kids before this…Read More all became public. If it needed to be kept a big secret at least we could put her on protective leave so that there was some safe guard in the school. Now they put her on "suspension with pay" - is this a message to all other females in the school system that report a sexual assault?
Bill Imparato May 22, 2013 at 05:35 pm
They all need PAYCUTS!
Overpaid and underworked.. The Whole NJ Government needs a Payroll Overhaul…Read More with a lot of PAYCUTS.... bring them all back to reality...

[Investigators from the Prosecutor's Office on Sept. 13 raided Habel's Point Pleasant home. Days prior, Habel hired fomer First Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Robert A. Honacker Jr. to represent him.
In addition to free use of the car, Habel in 2010 received $14,250 in allowances, $7,600 in stipends, $15,716 in extra insurance, and $49,932 for a pension annuity as well as his base pay of $200,273, according to the Department of Education. ]
Habel's payout for unused sick and vacation time tops $400,000. School board President John Tavis has said that Habel reported he did not take a sick day during his tenure as schools chief, which began in 2003.

Proud, I certainly never said that you should! And I am not saying that the practice of nepotism and…Read More using connections to get jobs should continue. My point was simply responding to the post above about how TRRS should go about finding the next leaders of the district and how those selected to be on a "board of locals" would be done. I am in FULL support of finding the most qualified person for the ENTIRE job of being Super and Asst. Super. Please do not add words to my comment to try and turn it around... and to be completely honest, I do not see how your response at all is connected to my analogy. Please explain if you can.
proud May 23, 2013 at 05:56 pm
Exactly my point @TRR, and I'm not trying to put words in your mouth. My premise is that the most…Read More qualified individuals are not placed because they are all too often vetted by not qualified cronies, relatives or those that enrich themselves from the same trough. I think it is beyond conflict of interest and borders on racketeering. My apologies of you misconstrued my comment.

I partied too don't need pills liquor was enough but then again we controlled our parties then…Read More again it is the way we are brought up...today's parents don't give a crap these kids have no respect... these kids are crazy you have to be afraid to approach them if they do something wrong......
Scharfenberg June 4, 2013 at 05:44 pm
Unfortunately, as smart as our children think they are, they are actually dopey! Previous…Read More generations kept it small and quiet when we did it. These dummies put it on social media of where the party is, what is present, etc. Also, we feared our parents and the consequences that came from the situation when authorities were called to the premises. Parents need to keep in touch via phone, not text, when their children are out with friends for the evening. Too much freedom and money is being given without any questions being asked. Have we all forgotten what can happen? Do we think it cannot happen to us? People need to get their heads out of the sand!

And KC, that same voice activated technology can be used to help the deaf who can speak. Instead of…Read More typing both ends of a conversation, the hearing person can speak and it is automatically translated quickly into text for the deaf. Works the other way, too. for the blind.
So much is out there to be done and it really will take the Nick Tylers who live with the many obstacles put in front of the disabled that could be removed quickly if people would just take the interest he has in smoothing the road toward equality.
Congratulations to a winner!

Big government ... Do not think one foriegn Doctor is not loving Obama care. The same foriegn Doctors will soon be having there family members coming here and getting free educations while teaching your children on how to bankrupt america because of the Stupid laws put in play for the rich to capitalize on the poor... This is already happened long ago! Their isn't that many American doctors left...they can't even get…Read More into Medical School. They have a quota, more foreigner get in from different parts of the country and maybe a few Americans a year. Same thing goes for all the colleges the foreigners get a free education at Ivy league colleges. Americans that have just as good records get pushed to the side.

They did not originate this program. It began at TR South in the late 80's and into the 90's before…Read More being derailed by the administration. I don't know why it was done away with, but I was on the Student Advisory Committee at South in 1988-89 and again in 1989-90 and we were interested in the same thing as this effort. I applaud them but take umbrage at their claim to be the original.

Oh, Greg, get a life. They are kids. They re supposed to make bad choices. This is a harmless…Read More one. You would think they did heroin the way you are carrying on! What we all hope is that they mess up but get through their teenage years alive. Stay offended, but why don't you think about getting involved with the school and find out what great kids are there and all of the good things they do. Get out from behind your computer and participate instead of being a negative critic, a VERY negative critic.
