AMC Seacourt Goes All Digital

This week, local theater AMC Seacourt switches from film to digital projectors.

For twenty years, AMC Seacourt has been entertaining moviegoers in the Toms River area. The theater is located at the corner of Bay and Hooper Avenues, and chances are, if you live locally and go to the movies even on an infrequent basis, you've seen a flick at Seacourt. This week, it takes a major step forward technologically by replacing all of its film projectors with new digital ones. Film projectors are large, hulking machines. Hundreds of feet of film run through winding pathways and spinning gears every time a movie is shown. Twenty-four individual frames pass in front of a powerful xenon light bulb each second. Each projector requires steady maintenance of its complex mechanical components; even just one roller not properly aligned…
