Police have charged a Toms River woman with burglary and theft after they found her inside a Balsam Drive home taking items from the flood-damaged residence, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith. Patrolmen William Somers and Don Rowley, along with Detective Will Cullen, responded to the home at 1:30 p.m. today, after receiving a call from a neighbor that people were in the uninhabitable house removing items, Smith said. They charged Donna Yurko, 49, Lacombe Terrace, with burglary and theft. The other woman, Nicole Harmsen, 27, Hazelwood Drive, was charged with receiving stolen property and criminal trespass, he said. Accident happened on Plaza Drive in Holiday City
A Toms River man is facing drunk driving charges and driving on a suspended license after a one-car accident on Plaza Drive in Holiday City recently, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said. Christopher Lane to be charged by four separate police departments for a multitude of motor vehicle charges
The man who eluded police officers from four towns as he roared down Route 9 at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour recently is facing "dozens" of other charges, Berkeley Township Detective James J. Smith said. Christopher Lane - who defiantly gave police officers the finger as he sped down Route 9 during rush hour - will also be charged separately by the Berkeley, Pine Beach, Beachwood and South Toms River police departments, Smith said. "He's facing dozens of summonses," said Smith. "There's a lot of motor vehicle charges from many towns." For more than a week in late August, Lane hopped on his neon-green Kawasaki with no license plates and careened down Route 9 through Bayville, Pine Beach and Beachwood, hitting speeds of more …

Christopher Lane defied police in Bayville, Pine Beach and Beachwood for over a week, speeding down Route 9 in excess of 100 miles per hour
They got him. For more than a week, the man on the neon-green Kawasaki with no license plates had careened down Route 9 through Bayville, Pine Beach and Beachwood, hitting speeds of more than 100 miles per hour during rush hour. Today was no exception. Christopher Lane, 23, Browns Mills, was spotted speeding down the center of two-lane Route 9 in Bayville, making obscene gestures at police as he flew by around 7:30 a.m. "Today he gave us the finger as he passed by," Berkeley Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said. But this time, Lane didn't complete his journey. This time, Berkeley Detective Joseph Robertazzi and Beachwood Detective Sgt. Glen DeMarco were watching Lane from the vantage point of a New Jersey State Police helicopter they had …

Dona Timoney, stricken in Double Trouble State Park almost two weeks ago, died Wednesday night, friend says
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - It was a story that warmed many hearts around the country. Dona Rae Timoney had rescued her pit bull mix "Lilly" from a North Carolina "drug house" last year. Owner and dog became extremely close. Lilly returned the favor two weeks ago, after Dona collapsed on a sugar sand path near the cranberry bogs in Double Trouble State Park. The little dog ran up the path, her leash dragging behind her. Bayville resident Frank Delarosa found Lilly, picked her up and started towards the park office. But Lilly squirmed and Delarosa put her down. She sped back down the path she had just come from and led him to Dona, who was unconscious. Dona, 51, was first taken to Community Medical Center, then airlifted to St. Barnabas Medical…

Beachwood woman airlifted to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Frank Delarosa thought it was strange to see a pit bull running down a sugar sand path near the cranberry bogs at Double Trouble State Park on Friday, her leash dragging behind her. Delarosa coaxed the one-year-old pit bull mix over to him, picked her up and started to head up the path to the park office. But "Lilly"was restless. Delarosa decided to put her down. She began pulling and tugging him down the path, back towards the cranberry bogs. It was there he found Lilly's owner unconscious about 150 yards down on the path. Dona Timoney, 51, of Beachwood, had suffered some kind of "medical event" while on a walk with her dog, Berkeley Township Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said. "She was unconscious, but …
