1,000 Bags of Heroin Seized, Newark Man Arrested

Motor vehicle stop in Seaside Park leads to drug-related charges for Ibnballha Pitman, 34, of Newark

A Newark man was arrested and charged after police seized 1,000 bags of heroin in an investigation into drug activity in the Ocean County area, according to a news release from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Ibnballha Pitman, 34, of Newark was arrested on April 15 after a cooperative investigation into his alleged drug distribution activities. Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on April 15 in which Pitman was the occupant of a 2001 White Honda Accord. The stop took place in the area of O Street and Central Avenue in Seaside Park. The officers obtained and executed a search warrant for the car, ultimately seizing approximately 1,000 bags of heroin with the approximate street value of $5,000, the news release said. Police: Bayville Man Charged with Drug Possession After Allegedly Stealing from Mall Store

Police also report other drug charges issued on Sunday

A Bayville man is being held in jail on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option after Toms River police responded to a shoplifting call at the Ocean County Mall Sunday and allegedly found him in possession of heroin. Police were called at about 5 p.m. to the Sears at the mall where loss prevention officers at the store were holding 27-year-old Christopher Wells on suspicion of stealing power tools valued at $500, according to Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.  An investigation by Officers Brent Mundy and Robert Burczyk found that Wells allegedly left the store with the tools and began to assault store security, Mastronardy said. Healy of Toms River, on counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, cocaine, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute in a school zone in Seaside Heights on Sept. 11. He was released on $2,500 bail, no 10 percent, on Sept. 17. Leo R. Foley IV of Holmdel, on a count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, methylenedioxymethamphetamine, and a count of possession with intent to distribute, on June 14, 2011, in Toms River. He was released on his own recognizance on June 14, 2011. Kristina M. Fletcher of Toms River, on a count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, AM-2201, on Nov. 17 in Manchester. Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of More Than 250 Bags of Heroin

Toms River man and Point Pleasant man both charged

A routine traffic stop Saturday night resulted in the recovery of 251 bags of heroin and drug charges for two Ocean County men, according to Lakehurst police. Officer Iain James stopped a 2007 Honda on Route 70 in the borough at about 11:56 p.m. after the driver failed to stay in his lane. When James approached the car, "he observed in plain view a bundle of heroin (10 bags) on the passenger side floor of the vehicle," said Lakehurst Chief of Police Eric Higgins in a statement.  After further investigation at the scene, police allege that the driver, Brian McCauley, 37, of Toms River, was in possession of 175 bags of heroin. Four Charged After Drug Raid Seizes 200 Bags of Drugs

Additional charges due to proximity to public park

Police arrested four individuals in raids at two New Street residences and also seized 200 bags of heroin and pills, as well as a handgun. County officials said the two homes were suspected hotbeds of drug distribution. The May 17 raid of the homes in the 2100 block of New Street in Toms River resulted in charges for four individuals inside the two residences, said Captain Jack Sramaty of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. The raid was without incident, using officers from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group and Toms River Police Department to execute a search warrant at the two addresses, which were a few doors away from each other.
