Event features live bands and prizes at Jenk's Club, Point Beach, April 21
Nine of the Jersey Shore’s top musicians will come together on April 21 at Jenks Club, Point Beach, to help the Monmouth and Ocean victims of Hurricane Sandy and the nurses of Ocean Medical Center. “Rock for the Nurses – Rock for the Shore” will start at 11 a.m. at Jenks Club at Jenkinson's, 300 Ocean Avenue on the boardwalk. Tickets are $30 per person (kids under 12 are free) and are available for advance purchase at Jenks Club, Bow-Kay Florist, Brick, and Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Tickets will also be available for purchase the day of the event at the door. Show Scheduled for Saturday February 9 at OCC
A theater company formed to bring the arts to Toms River will raise funds for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts with their production of Broadway For The Beach 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Ocean County Arts and Cultural Center on the Ocean County College Campus in Toms River. "We wanted to do something easy and give people a good escape and fun night out," said show producer Sean Openshaw. Percentage of sales at Toms River Chili's will go to Cpl. Nicholas S. Ott Memorial Fund
When presented with a flyer, a portion of sales made at the Toms River Chili's on Wednesday will go toward the memorial fund of a U.S. Marine from Manchester who was killed in action last year. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 29, 10 percent of bill totals will be donated to the Cpl. Nicholas S. Ott Memorial Fund when the flyer in this article's media box is presented at the 1315 Hooper Ave. restaurant. Ott was killed in August 2011 while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province at 23 years old. Allie Ciancia, 10, suffers from rare kidney disease
Thanks to a bunch of local police officers and firefighters, a Point Borough family with an ill child has a lot more help and hope than they had before. A charity softball game played by the Point Pleasant Policemen's Benevolent Association and the Point Beach volunteer firefighters raised $1,145 for Allie Ciancia, who is suffering from a rare kidney disease. Ruthi Grabowski, Allie's grandmother, said she and the family greatly appreciate the efforts of the police, firefighters and all the residents who attended and donated. The Lakewood Blue Claws and Point Pleasant Borough police vs. Point Pleasant Beach firefighters had a fundraiser softball game Sunday night to help a Point Borough girl in the fight of her life. A Blue Claws game, followed by a separate, fundraiser softball game, "Badges for Charity," were played at the Lakewood Blue Claws stadium to help a Point Pleasant Borough girl suffering from a rare kidney disease. Kenny “Toe” Cranmer loved to go fast. The now-Waretown resident raced everything from speedboats to lawnmowers in his quest for speed. Tragically it was that pursuit that resulted in a racing accident that has for now left him mostly paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Cranmer was thrown from his high performance garvey last summer during a race in Lavallette. But that didn’t stop the 40-something speedster from coming out to the races Sunday at the Barnegat Docks on East Bay Avenue. The races and whole day were actually in his honor and was a fund raiser for him and his family sponsored by fellow racers. Jersey Mike's hosts their third annual fundraiser to help put wreaths on headstones of fallen soldiers
Jersey Mike’s Subs will celebrate their third annual “Christmas in July” fundraiser until July 15 by asking customers to donate to the cause. Jersey Mike’s will collect and match all donations for Wreaths Across America (WAA), a non-profit organization that lays thousands of wreaths at the graves of fallen veterans on December 15, National Wreaths Across America Day. Collection for South Toms River family
Autumn Meadow Trading and Sweet Tush gift shops on Washington Street are holding a fundraiser Friday for a local family whose home was devastated by fire. A portion of sales on Friday, May 4 will go to aid the Lowe family of South Toms River, whose Annapolis home was heavily damaged by fire March 30. Autumn Meadow candle and gift shop, located at 11c Washington Street, as well as bath and beauty shop Sweet Tush next door, will donate 20 percent of all sales from the day.
