The law aims to give New Jersey municipalities a say over reality TV productions.
Worried that your town may become the next "Snookiville?" Well, a bill introduced Monday aims to arm New Jersey municipalities with the right to regulate reality TV shows. Dubbed the "Snookiville Law," the bill introduced today by Assemblyman Ronald Dancer (R-12) would allow towns to impose conditions on shows such as the "Snooki & JWoww" production that began filming in Manchester in August or the previous installments of "Jersey Shore" that filmed in Seaside Heights and Toms River. “The popularity of MTV’s 'Jersey Shore' and other reality shows can attract crowds to a community,” Dancer said in a news release. “That can be great for local businesses and a costly challenge to a town’s ability to control crowds and protect public safety…

"Jersey Shore" spinoff filming at Manchester home into October
MTV stars Snooki and JWoww are filming in a Manchester home, Manchester Business Administrator Elena Zsoldos said Monday. "The fact is that they are here. They're renting a home here in Manchester," Zsoldos said. On Friday, Mayor Michael Fressola told Manchester Patch that he received word from the owner of the filming site, a large, modern two-story home on Johnson Avenue near the POW-MIA Park, that the two "Jersey Shore" cast members were moving in to film their "Snooki & JWoww" spinoff. Around that time, multiple residents who live on or near the street wrote in to Manchester Patch to say that they saw trucks and other vehicles with New York license plates at the home as crews prepared for filming. The 495 Productions show, which …

Rumors abound, but no official confirmation from show producers
Reports are swirling that MTV stars Snooki and JWoww may be headed to Manchester. Multiple residents who live on or near Johnson Avenue have written in to Patch to say that they've seen trucks and other vehicles with New York license plates at a home near the township's POW-MIA Park, supposedly gearing up for filming of "Snooki & JWoww," a "Jersey Shore" spinoff. Manchester Mayor Michael Fressola said that he spoke with the owner of the alleged filming site, a large, modern two-story home, who said that a deal to lease the property for the production was in the works. Fressola could not confirm that such a deal was executed, however. When contacted by Patch, the owner of the property declined to confirm that the home had been leased out …

MTV's "Jersey Shore" spinoff told it can't film at residence
Snooki and JWoww won't be filmed hanging out at home -- at least not at the Toms River residence of one of the two women. Township Administrator Paul Shives said the township received a request from 495 Productions, the company behind MTV's "Jersey Shore" and its spinoff, "Snooki & JWoww," seeking to film the new show at a residential location. "The township has an ordinance that prohibits the filming of movies, television shows or commercials in residential areas," Shives said Thursday. "It's a zoning provision." So the township advised 495 Productions that filming at the residential site -- the home of one of the two stars, Jennifer "JWoww" Farley and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi -- was not permitted under ordinance. The site was not …

Council may consider charging for film permits
The Point Beach Council agreed unanimously on Tuesday night to not allow MTV to film the "Snooki and Jwoww" reality show on public property in town. Through the brief discussion about the MTV request for a permit to start shooting the two "stars" going out to local night spots, starting Thursday, Mayor Vincent Barrella said perhaps the council should think about charging for film permits. They are now free, said Point Beach Business Administrator Chris Riehl. He noted that the town charges the American Cancer Society to conduct a fundraiser on the boardwalk annually. "And yet, MTV would get a free pass," Barrella noted, adding the council should think about developing a fee for film permits. That prompted mention of the town's special …

Spotted around town: Local businesses advertising the MTV cast went there
When my uncle built an in-depth genealogy of our family tree, he discovered that George Washington had eaten at the restaurant a great-great-great-great-great (you get the picture) relative owned. We were very surprised at our brief connection to then Gen. Washington and we point this out to visitors staring at the family tree hanging on the wall. And that's what many places that can claim that historic connection do, they make known the fact that someone famous ate there, slept there, stayed there, vacationed there. Summer houses end up on the National Register of Historic Places because of it. History-loving tourists come and point: "That's Calvin Coolidge's childhood home." Et cetera. Keeping that history alive is the admirable task of …

The girls rally around Sammi as she and Ronnie deliver a breakup of epic proportions
Spicy, explosive, hot, violent and raging are all very appropriate words one might use to describe last night's Jersey Shore episode. Jwoww and her newest beau Roger venture out to the Spicy Cantina on the Seaside boardwalk, a prominent place midway on the boards. I've been there a handful of times, and love sitting on the balcony upstairs to watch all the folks walkin' around down below. I've been known to toss a few things over the ledge onto some innocent walkers by. If only I went there more often, I might be as well known as Roger was. Spicy Cantina seemed to be the place where everybody knew his name, and they were all glad that he came. Jwoww in tow, getting far less attention, Roger high-fives all his boys that seemed to line up …

Snooki and her friends may want to watch out as they fist bump and keg stand their way up and down the eastern seaboard, one New Jersey state legislator wants them to know they do not represent what he describes as the real Jersey Shore. As the third season of the hit MTV reality series kicked off last week, Assemblyman Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield) said that he plans to continue his push to show that the other aspects of the Shore. Bramnick made headlines last year when he created a video contest to showcase the non-MTV aspects of the Shore. “The job of public officials is to make sure people differentiate between the show and New Jersey,” he said. “To begin with it doesn’t reflect the Jersey Shore. It doesn’t reflect the culture. It is a …

The skinny on Snooki's new book, local feedback, plus episode 2 catch-phrases.
A few months back, I heard that Snooki was writing a book and snickered at the thought of it. What on earth could it be about? Would it be a bodice ripper of pulp fiction or a tale of social strata of Bronte proportions? Well, you'll have to get your hands on your own juicy copy of her first novel "A Shore Thing" and read for yourself. I've only had a chance to skim it so far, but the gist is basically a mirror image of her experiences that we've already seen on season 1 of Jersey Shore though the names were changed to protect the not-so-innocent. Gia, the main character, seems to be quite similar to the real Snooki, and from what I have read so far, she goes on and on about hooking up with "Gorilla Juice-Head Guidos" while staying at a …

Episode 1 is a "blast in a glass," plus last week's New Year's Eve event
A new year here on the Jersey Shore was kicked off with a new season of "Jersey Shore" last night. But before last night's episode, there was New Year's Eve with Snooki... Originally MTV wanted to drop Snooki from a ball in Times Square, but no dice! Instead the Plan B brought the event down to the Jersey Shore house in Seaside Heights. Again, this was a much more appropriate decision, seeing that Times Square is not part of the Jersey shoreline in any way. And when I heard about this event, I grabbed my trusty friend Kyle (who is obsessed with Snooki) and we headed over to see our favorite poof in person. The event was pre-taped on Dec 30 to be aired on MTV's New Years Eve show. When we got to the site around 7 p.m. that night, the Shore…
