Donald W. Labella was pronounced dead at the scene, police said
A 57-year-old Tinton Falls man was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Manchester, police said. Donald W. Labella was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. At 1:07 p.m, a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner, operated by Lee R Chism, 30, of Pennsauken, was traveling west on Route 70 when his vehicle crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane, police said. The vehicle struck a 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager driven eastbound by Labella, police said. The initial impact was head on. Chism, who was traveling alone, was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune, to be treated for arms and chest injuries. Goodman, who was traveling with Labella, was transported to the same hospital and treated for a leg injury, police said. …

Brittney Snodgrass has been found safe, according to NJ 101.5. Snodgrass was last seen getting off her school bus on Ash Street at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to NJ 101.5. When she did not arrive home, a search began via social media, the base wide “big voice” giant intercom and on the ground, according to the station. More can be found here.

Accident happened at mile marker 74.7 northbound, State Police say
A man who was trying to help push a disabled car off the northbound lane of the Garden State Parkway died when a passing car struck and killed him early this evening, State Police said. Preliminary reports indicate the man was one of four who stopped to push the disabled car onto the shoulder of the roadway in Lacey Township, Sgt. Adam Grossman said. "The person at the rear left of the vehicle was struck by a passing motor vehicle," he said. "Unfortunately it looks like a Good Samaritan...they are still trying to sort things out." The man - whose identify is being withheld for now - was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by the Lacey Township First Aid Squad. Michael Rankin was hospitalized and diagnosed with leukemia on December 28, 2012, police said
During the month of January, Manchester Township police officers grew mustaches to raise $800.00 for 8-year-old Michael Rankin, son of Toms River Township Police Officer Bob Rankin. Michael Rankin was hospitalized and diagnosed with leukemia on Dec. 28, 2012, police said. This was done once by officers in the past, and the contest entry fees were collected and donated to a family in need, police said. During this contest, about twenty officers paid an entry fee to participate in the contest and other officers donated additional funds. In the end, $400.00 was collected which was then matched by Manchester PBA 246. Michael is currently undergoing chemo and may need three years to win his fight against cancer. So say observers who say this Manchester CVS is a target
The cashier, who was on the other side of the counter inside the CVS store in Manchester, came close to serious injury and could have been killed. The cashier was able to jump over the counter and get out of the way once the car struck a man outside the store. If the car had come through the wall at all, he could have been dead. These were some of the observations made at the scene when a 73-year-old Whiting man who died recently after a vehicle struck him while he was sitting on a bench, police said. Joseph O'Connor was sitting on the bench in front of the Route 530 CVS store when he was struck and killed by a 2012 Subaru Forester wagon. A 70-year-old woman died Monday after her car crashed into a utility pole on Route 539 in Manchester, police said. Karen Olsen of Allentown, N.J., a passenger in the vehicle driven by her husband, died after she was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for severe head trauma, and then airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Olsen, who was pronounced dead at Jersey Shore, had been properly restrained and had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said. The driver, 70-year-old Robert S. Lakewood police arrested the suspect driver who hit and critically injured a Chaveirim member and then fled the scene, according to the Chaveirim of Lakewood.
The Lakewood Police Department arrested the suspected driver who hit and critically injured a Chaveirim member, Moshe Guttmann, and then fled the scene, according to a statement released by the Chaveirim of Lakewood. A family member of the victim who did not give up searching for the vehicle spotted the possible match to the Chevy Astro van parked in the rear of an East 5th Street home, according to the statement. The family member questioned someone outside the residence regarding the damage to the vehicle, and was told it was involved in an accident last week. Police were handing out fliers to motorists on Somerset Avenue in Lakewood this past week as police continue the search for the hit-and-run driver which left a Chaveirim member severely injured on that road.
