An Ocean County grand jury indicted a township man with burglary and criminal mischief, charging that he broke into a Route 37 car dealership in 2011. The indictment charges John C. Mcevoy with third degree burglary, stating that he "knowingly" entered the Lester Glenn Automotive building on Route 37 east "with the purpose to commit an offense therein" on Oct. 11, 2011. Mcevoy also faces a charge of third degree criminal mischief in the same incident, as he "purposely or knowingly did damage the tangible property of Lester Glenn Automotive," the indictment reads. According to the charge, Mcevoy caused the business in excess of $2,000 in damages.

Trenton pair named in September 2012 incident
A pair of Trenton men have been indicted in connection with a September 2012 home invasion robbery in Toms River where a couple were tied up while their home was ransacked. Alexander Lora, 33, and Christopher L. Upshur, 22, both of Trenton were indicted on one count each of first-degree robbery, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary in connection with the Sept. 20 incident by an Ocean County grand jury sitting in Toms River. According to police reports at the time, three men armed with handguns and wearing ski masks forced open a locked sliding glass door to a bi-level home on Colonial Drive, tied up the husband and wife who lived there and tore the house apart looking for safes. A Pennsylvania man who is accused of trying to run down a Toms River police officer who responded to a fight at a motel in August has been indicted in the incident. Joseph A. Lynch of Levittown, Pa., was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury, sitting in Toms River, on two counts of aggravated assault, one count of making a terroristic threat and one count of eluding in the Aug. 28 incident. According to news reports, Lynch was involved in a fight at the Pier One motel on Route 37. When Toms River police arrived, Lynch, 55, jumped into his Pontiac Grand Am and sped off, nearly hitting Sgt. A Toms River man who told a woman he "stabbed people before" has been indicted by an Ocean County grand jury on three counts of making terroristic threats. Keith T. Novajovsky of Toms River also was indicted on counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted person in the Aug. 28 incident in Toms River, according to the indictment. The indictment says Novajovsky threatened Jennifer Lake with a knife, saying "Don't tempt me, I've stabbed people before." He also threatened Keith Novajovsky and Bernadette Novajovsky, saying he would "get a gun and put a bullet in one of them," according to the indictment. A man indicted at least twice in the last year has been named in a 24-count indictment that accuses him of burglarizing a dozen Toms River homes in 2011. Mark R. Sloan, 36, whose address has been listed variously as Toms River or Whiting, was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury, sitting in Toms River, on 12 counts of third-degree burglary, 11 counts of third-degree theft and a cound of second-degree theft in the break-ins, which occurred between Aug. 22, 2011 and Oct. 6, 2011. A Seaside Heights couple has been indicted by an Ocean County grand jury on a count of manslaughter in the 2008 death of their 11-month-old baby. Denise M. Manco and Rondell F. Moore were indicted last week on a count of second-degree manslaughter in the death of their child, referred to in the indictment as J.M., in Seaside Heights, on Sept. 12, 2008. The indictment says J.M. was born Oct. 1, 2007. The pair also was indicted on a count of second-degree endangering the welfare of the child, J.M., and a count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, stated by the indictment as being heroin. A trio of Toms River men have been indicted in connection with a string of car burglaries in April. Timothy R. Simpson of Hazelwood Road, Kyle P. Cannon of Red Cedar Drive and Dale E. Parducci of Raider Way were indicted by an Ocean County grand jury on 14 counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree theft and two counts of fourth-degree theft in connection with burglaries of cars in the East Dover section of town on April 15 and 16. The trio is alleged to have taken items ranging from digital cameras and GPS units to a baseball bat and one victim's wallet in the incidents. Robbery charges upgraded to include racial bias element
Three men -- two from Toms River and a third from Beachwood -- have been indicted on counts of bias intimidation and robbery, after they allegedly robbed two Hispanic men in November 2010. Christopher J. Beckett and Zachary G. Maguire, both of Toms River, and Damien Gilsey of Beachwood were indicted by an Ocean County grand jury, sitting in Toms River, on two counts each of second-degree robbery and first-degree bias intimidation in the robbery of Jose Andrade and Armando Sala on Nov. 27, 2010, in Toms River. Indictments handed up by an Ocean County grand jury
A Northfield man has been indicted on counts of robbery, attempted robbery, shoplifting and eluding police in a series of incidents in Toms River, Newark and Millburn in December. Maurice Cohen of Northfield was indicted on seven counts by an Ocean County grand jury on seven counts in relation to the incidents on Dec. 10 and 14 in Toms River and Millburn.
