Bridge between Point Beach and Brielle to remain passable
You'll be able to keep crossing the Route 35 bridge when you come to it. It's been passable since mid-afternoon Wednesday and it looks like it will stay that way. The state says the testing on the bridge is finished, which is good news for those who sat in traffic Wednesday as the bridge was intermittently in the raised position. Contractor crews left the bridge shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday and will not need to return. Contractors for the state Department of Transportation (DOT) were testing the locking mechanisms on the bridge, they ran two or three tests and they were just fine, said DOT spokesman Timothy Greeley on Thursday. Events at Martell's and Jenkinson's today and tomorrow
There will be an Easter egg hunt, an Easter parade, discount ticket sales, rides, games and more on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach this weekend. The free egg hunt will be at Martell's beach on Saturday. Those who wish to participate should arrive by 10:30 a.m. to register in time for the 11 a.m. start. There will also be two local face painters coming from Party Central in Point Beach. (See attached PDF for details.) At 1 p.m. Sunday, there will be an Easter parade on the boardwalk in front of Jenkinson's. Also, the annual two-for-one Jenkinson's ride ticket sales started Friday and continue through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. on the boardwalk and online.

Event features live bands and prizes at Jenk's Club, Point Beach, April 21
Nine of the Jersey Shore’s top musicians will come together on April 21 at Jenks Club, Point Beach, to help the Monmouth and Ocean victims of Hurricane Sandy and the nurses of Ocean Medical Center. “Rock for the Nurses – Rock for the Shore” will start at 11 a.m. at Jenks Club at Jenkinson's, 300 Ocean Avenue on the boardwalk. Tickets are $30 per person (kids under 12 are free) and are available for advance purchase at Jenks Club, Bow-Kay Florist, Brick, and Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Tickets will also be available for purchase the day of the event at the door. All proceeds from the event will be divided among the Barbara Forfar Nursing Scholarship Fund, which annually benefits the nurses of Ocean Medical Center by providing nursing …

Participants are asked to bring candles to fisherman's memorial
A candlelight vigil for the victims of the Connecticut shooting victims will be held from 8 to about 9 p.m. today at the fisherman's memorial on Inlet Drive in Point Pleasant Beach. The vigil will be held rain or shine at the memorial at Loughran's Point on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet and residents from all towns are welcome, said Kiel Arnone, a Point Pleasant Borough resident who is coordinating the event. All participants are asked to bring their own candles and any donations of candles from businesses will be greatly appreciated, Arnone said. Christie said all power in NJ would be restored by now
Despite assurances by Gov. Christie that the entire state would have power again by yesterday, there are thousands still in the dark in New Jersey, including 601 in just Monmouth and Ocean counties, according to the JCP&L outage map. As of 3:15 p.m. Monday, there are 441 outages in Monmouth and 160 in Ocean and about 3,100 outages among JCP&L customers in the 13 counties it serves, the map shows. In Morris County alone there are 739 JCP&L customers reporting outages. PSE&G has 278 outages on Monday afternoon, including 19 outages caused by Sandy and 259 caused by the nor'easter. Atlantic Electric has restored power to all customers who can safely be restored, said Frank Tedesco, company spokesman. He said there are 2,000 to 2,500 …

Police, fire and first aid work together to save a woman, a man and a boy
Point Beach police, fire and first aid responders worked in the cold, rising tide of the Manasquan Inlet waters Thursday night to save a woman and a boy who had tried to save her himself. Maureen Bush, 29, Manchester, fell between sharp, craggy rocks into the inlet water, and Daniel Reinhardt, 16, who had tried to save her, are both OK after being rescued by the emergency responders, said Police Detective Clint Daniel. "The 16-year-old boy was fantastic and should be commended," Daniel said at police headquarters Thursday night. "He tried to get her out, but it was just too slippery. Fundraiser for Point Borough girl with kidney disease at Blue Claws Stadium were held Sunday night
The Lakewood Blue Claws and Point Pleasant Borough police vs. Point Pleasant Beach firefighters had a fundraiser softball game Sunday night to help a Point Borough girl in the fight of her life. A Blue Claws game, followed by a separate, fundraiser softball game, "Badges for Charity," were played at the Lakewood Blue Claws stadium to help a Point Pleasant Borough girl suffering from a rare kidney disease. The Point Pleasant Policemen's Benevolent Association (PBA) played the volunteer Point Pleasant Beach Fire Department to help raise money for Allie Ciancia, 10, who suffers from a rare kidney disease called FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomulerosclerosis), according to Ruthi Blaum Grabowski, her grandmother. Council may consider charging for film permits
The Point Beach Council agreed unanimously on Tuesday night to not allow MTV to film the "Snooki and Jwoww" reality show on public property in town. Through the brief discussion about the MTV request for a permit to start shooting the two "stars" going out to local night spots, starting Thursday, Mayor Vincent Barrella said perhaps the council should think about charging for film permits. They are now free, said Point Beach Business Administrator Chris Riehl. He noted that the town charges the American Cancer Society to conduct a fundraiser on the boardwalk annually. Car crash led to death of Tina Rambo, Ocean County Detective and former Point Beach special police officer
A Marlton woman pleaded guilty to two of four Municipal Court charges stemming from a car accident that killed Tina Rambo, an Ocean County detective. Rachel Portnoy, 24, pleaded guilty in Southampton Municipal Court in Burlington County on Wednesday to charges of overtaking and passing vehicles and driving an unregistered vehicle and has to pay $378 in fines and court costs, said Terry Bodine, Municipal Court administrator. Portnoy collided with a car driven by Rambo, 35, a detective with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, on Route 70 in Southampton on Aug. 1, 2011. Rambo died from injuries sustained in the accident, leaving behind her husband, Roy Rambo, and two young boys, who were 3 and 6 years old at the time. Portnoy pleaded guilty…
