A Look at Area Road Conditions for Snowy Monday

National Weather Service states snow will continue into the afternoon before becoming rain

Here's a look at current road and traffic incidents reported for the Toms River area as a steady light snow falls Monday morning. In this real-time traffic map from Mapquest, green portions mean traffic is flowing freely, while yellow and red indicate traffic delays. The National Weather Service warns that road conditions may be slick before temperatures rise and the snow transitions to rain by Monday afternoon. Click on the map picture, move the map and search the area for possible delays.

How About That Fog?

Mild evening leads to poor visibility overnight

It’s a bright sunny afternoon, but only after the thick clouds of morning and overnight kept visibility under a mile, according to the National Weather Service. After sunset yesterday, visibility quickly worsened in Toms River, blanketing the area in deep foggy conditions that lasted into morning Thursday. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said that despite poor driving conditions, there were no spikes in motor vehicle accidents or issues with pedestrians. Here’s the view (or lack there of) around midnight at Hooper Avenue between Walnut Street and Route 37.
