Staffers with Congressman Jon Runyan's re-election campaign touted an internal poll that gave the incumbent Republican a 16 point lead over Democratic challenger Shelley Adler, though the Adler campaign dismissed the poll as a "work of fiction." The internal poll, conducted by private polling firm McLaughlin & Associates and released by the campaign Tuesday, shows Runyan topping Adler 51 percent to 34 percent, with Runyan receiving a quarter of the Democratic vote compared with Adler receiving just 8 percent of the Republican vote. Letter to the editor as submitted by Toms River resident Jason Sansone: I am writing to express my support for Shelley Adler in the 3rd district and to express my outrage that Representative Jon Runyan has not publicly denounced fellow House Republican Todd Akin over his seriously misguided medical information and abhorrent choice of words regarding "questions of legitimate rape." Jon Runyan and the GOP's war on women's rights needs to end and Shelley Adler is just the woman to do it! Sincerely, Jason Sansone Toms River

I’ll take the results of this study …

Adler would run against Jon Runyan in newly redrawn 3rd District
Shelley Adler, widow of former Democratic U.S. Rep. John Adler, announced today that she will run against Republican incumbent Jon Runyan for New Jersey's 3rd District Congressional seat. “For several months, I weighed running for the seat formerly held by my late husband to continue his legacy of public service," said Adler in a statement run in several news outlets across the state. "When I speak to people, they share their struggles with me and are frustrated by politicians playing games in Washington. They want a new direction. “In Congress, I will fight to create new jobs and to restore accountability by rooting out wasteful spending. I will also push for tax incentives to help small businesses create jobs in new industries, to …
