Abundant Grace Church Burglarized, Robbed of Cash Register

Church on Route 571 robbed, surveillance image released

Toms River Police announced today that the Abundant Grace Church, Route 571, was robbed Oct. 29 of its cash register by a burglar caught on surveillance cameras. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said the surveillance video shows a man entering the church and removing the church's cash register. How much cash was in the register was not released. The man is described as a white male, with a goatee, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants and gloves. The register is a Casio brand. Police are encouraging anyone with information to call police headquarters and have released a video of the burglary in hopes of furthering the investigation. Volunteer Groups' Christmas Tree Sales Aid Church, Fire Departments

In Silverton, tree sale is fundraiser to aid in upkeep of volunteer fire department.

This time of year, fire house backyard and church side lot become a place of bustling activity, as folks head out to buy Christmas trees. In places such as Silverton Fire Company, Toms River Fire Substation on Hooper Avenue, and Abundant Grace Church, selling Christmas trees is a tradition going on for years. The sales serve as a fundraiser for the organizations, while their properties turn into winter wonderlands of Balsalm, White Pine, Douglas Fir and Blue Spruce for sale. We headed over to Silverton Fire Company last week before they sold out, to see what this year's sale had in store. Silverton Fire Company, located at 15 Kettle Creek Road, Toms River, offered 6' to 10' trees. The fire company sells fresh cut trees each year in order …
