The following Council Corner article was submitted by Ward 4 Councilman Alffonso Manforti: While some say the only certainties in life are death and taxes, what happens after death is a matter of intense debate. What happens after you don't pay your property taxes — that’s something else — a lien is sold at a municipal tax sale. Historically the traditional tax sale process in New Jersey was slow and antiquated with very limited participation from the public while at the same time tying up township resources before and during the sale. Councilman Alfonse Manforti completes prescribed council term, expiring December 31
Councilman Alfonse Manforti, who was appointed to the Toms River Township Council in July to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of former Councilwoman Melanie Donohue-Appleby, participated in his final council meeting on Tuesday evening before departing the governing body. At Tuesday’s night meeting, Manforti’s colleagues on the governing body praised his service, though brief, and expressed interest in working with him again in the future. Manforti also was presented with an official proclamation at the start of the meeting. “We would like to recognize Councilman Al Manforti for his service on the town council. Al Manforti sworn in as township councilman last night, filling Donohue-Appleby's vacancy
Toms River Township Council unanimously chose Toms River Regular Republican Club President Alfonso Manforti to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Melanie Donohue-Appleby. Manforti, a local chiropractor, will serve the remainder of Donohue-Appleby’s term, which ends in November. The Toms River Regular Republican Club nominated local attorneys Mary Calvetto and Dennis Kelly, and Manforti, each of whom were interviewed after last night’s township council meeting. Why would he, they or the town employee's care? They all have fat pensions , make nice fat salaries and I would guess not a one of them have had their homes destroyed by that storm. Like the Freeholders that collect a salary, have pensions and have a job 100% all on the public dime. The town administrators do the same.   more ›
