County roadwork includes milling and paving
Commuters on Hooper Avenue should expect traffic delays around June 11, as the county roads department plans to repair the road near Oak Avenue. The Ocean County Roads Deparment announced the work of the major Toms River thorofare, which is also County Route 549, will begin around Monday, June 11. The project includes milling and paving of the roadway, along the area of Oak Avenue by the Ocean County Mall. Lane and road closures, as well as impact to the adjacent jughandles, may be part of the project, which aims to address the aging roadway's potholes and uneven pavement. Months prior, the county milled and repaved portions of the Silverton stretch of Hooper Avenue, addressing issues near Church and Silver Bay roads.

Kelly. By Friday, county officials expect all of the county roads that are still closed to be repaired and open. They are located in Toms River at the …

North side of Route 571 will be widened
Exasperated drivers will spend a lot less time waiting and cussing at the traffic light at Route 571 and Whitesville Road in Toms River once that intersection is rebuilt to widen both highways. That is the prediction of Ocean County Engineer Frank Scarantino, explaining that the average 105-second delay will be pared to 38 seconds when the improvements are completed next spring. If nothing is done the waits will get longer, he told the county’s freeholders, who are poised to approve advertising for bids for the project on today at 4 p.m. Scarantino said the north side of Route 571 will be widened, along with the west side of Whitesville Road to provide right turn lanes. A detention basin for stormwater will be built along Route 571 as well…
