Toms River Police, Ocean County Prosecutors arrest four men from Toms River

Four Toms River men were arrested Thursday at a motor vehicle stop that police said allegedly turned up more than 1,500 bags of heroin. The arrest, near Route 37 and Main Street, was the result of an ongoing investigation, said Capt. Jack Sramaty of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Special Operations Group. "This was a very well orchestrated investigation," Sramaty said. The motor vehicle stop was not as a result of a moving violation, he said, but was "a result of an ongoing investigation by the Special Operations Group."  The four men in the vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai SUV, were each arrested and charged with drug offenses after police allegedly found more than 1,500 bags of heroin in the vehicle. Steady Stream Of Onlookers Seek Answers In Toddler's Death

Former neighbor says she knew of no hole in yard

Cars drove steadily down East Spruce Street in Lakewood Tuesday, slowing down in front of the house with the yellow crime scene tape draped across the front yard. Some stopped to talk, glancing over at the bungalow-style house that was still adorned with Christmas lights. "It's a tragedy," said one man who did not want to be identified. He said he rents a house a couple of blocks away. "It's really tough." Such was the scene in front of the home of the Lakewood toddler known as "J.C." who died at the bottom of a septic tank hole in her family's yard Monday evening. One woman, who was particularly distraught, said she used to live next door to the house where the missing 2-year old girl died. "The former owner and I were friends," she said…
