Letter: East Dover Chief Asks Residents to Vote Foley

Urging voters to come out for Saturday election

I am writing this letter to ask the residents of Toms River Township, District 1 to come out on Saturday February 18 and vote to re-elect for another term as Fire Commissioner for District 1.

Doug’s credentials speak volumes for him. He has served the residents of Toms River Township for the past 33+ years as a firefighter, Chief and Fire Commissioner. Before he retired, Doug worked in the NJ Division of Fire Safety where, in his role as a Code Enforcement Fire Official, he was widely a respected by those he worked for and those he worked with in the State. Even before he worked for the State of New Jersey, Doug was in the suppression end of the Fire Service as a career firefighter at Lakehurst Naval Engineering Center.

During his six year tenure as Commissioner, Doug has constantly strove to better the fire service in Toms River, while maintaining fiscal responsibility for its residents. Doug has always brought innovative, progressive thinking to the table.

While , he applied for and received a Federal Fire Prevention Grant which was used to distribute free smoke detectors to the residents of Toms River. For the two years that the smoke detectors were distributed, residents were not charged a penny and we have Doug to thank for them.

I have personally known Doug for 25 of his 33+ years in the fire service. I can say without question that the combination of his knowledge of the fire service, his understanding of how government agencies work and his personal work ethic make him a superb Fire Commissioner, and also makes him worthy of re-election to the Board. It is why every firefighter in the East Dover Fire Company chooses to support Doug for re-election and it is because of him we are making this appeal to you, our neighbors and friends.

Please come to the polls on Saturday February 18 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and help us re-elect a man who is both a friend to the fire service and a friend to every taxpayer in Toms River Township, District 1.

Residents on the Barrier Island can vote at the Ocean Beach Fire Company on Kittiwake Ave. Residents in District 1 from the west side to Vaughn Avenue can vote at the Toms River Fire Company #2 on West Water Street. Finally, residents in District 1 from Vaughn Avenue to the Bay can vote at the East Dover Fire Company on Fischer Blvd.

The men and women of The East Dover Volunteer Fire Company implore all of the people we have helped over the years and all of those who have helped us in the past to come out and support Fire Commissioner Doug Foley in his bid for re-election. Also please vote YES on the Fire Budget. On the average, the cost of 24/7 fire protection to our residents is about the cost of a daily newspaper subscription. Aren’t the lives of you and your family worth that?

Sincerely,

Andy Goresh

President, East Dover Fire Company #4
