UPDATE: Motorcyclist Ejected After Striking Parked Car Dies from Injuries

The 23-year-old Brick man involved in motorcycle crash in Toms River early Sunday morning has died from his injuries, police said. 

Joseph Nero, 23, of Brick was operating a 2006 Yamaha north on New Hampshire Avenue when his motorcycle struck the rear of an unoccupied parked 2006 Chevy. After striking the car, Nero was ejected and was thrown more than 100 feet, according to a statement from police. 

He was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center and died from his injuries Sunday afternoon, according to Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

Nero was traveling with two other motorcyclists from Lakewood who witnessed him strike a vehicle parked in front of a home, the chief said. 

Traffic Safety Officers Terry Warren and Frank Palino are investigating. New Hampshire Avenue was closed for two hours following the crash.
