Toms River Man Struck With Blow Dart, Police Say

Victim claimed car full of individuals pointed, laughed during assault

Toms River police are searching for a the person who is thought to have shot a blow dart out a car window, hitting a township man.

An 18-year-old man came to police headquarters Monday afternoon and reported the incident, Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said.

The man told police he was jogging on Coolidge Avenue by Windsor Avenue in the East Dover section of the township at about 2:10 p.m. when he felt something strike his elbow, said Mastronardy.

"The victim received a small puncture wound and turned the Dart into evidence," Mastronardy said.

The victim, who refused medical attention for his injury, stated that he observed a white sports car with four individuals in it who were laughing and pointing at him at the time of the incident. He said they were responsible for the assault, said Mastronardy.
