'We're Going to Rebuild...One Way or Another'

Arcade just rebuilt from Sandy.

Daniel Shauger, a manager with Funtown Arcade, watched as fire crews continued to douse water on the remnants of a massive fire that severely damaged his and several businesses along the boardwalk.

It is the third year that he and owner Frank Mandian have managed the arcade together, and he said, they have been "tough."

"Last year was tough because it was rainy, then Sandy wiped us out," Shauger said. They managed to rebuild from Sandy by June 1, and then, he said, the fire happened.

He estimated damages to be in the hundreds of thousands, as he said there were about 100 games, and each one was valuable.

He personally owns a Frogger and Quest ticket redemption game that was in the building.

Asked about what's next, Shauger didn't hesitate.

"We're going to get in there, assess what has happened, and rebuild by spring, one way or another," he said.
